Bank of America Brunch on the Bay is the premier scholarship fundraiser for the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, helping students who might not otherwise be able to afford a college education to realize that dream.Brunch also showcases the role USFSM plays in the region, as a hometown university that provides a high-quality, affordable education for students who go on to become valued members of the workforce and vibrant contributors to the Sarasota-Manatee community. During its first 25 years, Bank of America Brunch on the Bay enabled USFSM to award nearly 1,800 scholarships through the generosity of donors. These awards have created opportunities for students who, in many cases, are the first in their families to attend college. These students, in turn, will go on to give their time and talent back to the region. Held each November – this year’s event is Nov. 3 on USFSM’s scenic campus – Bank of America Brunch on the Bay kicks off the social season in the region with a celebration that includes fine cuisine from some of the top restaurants and caterers in the region. USFSM graduates Pete Petersen, CEO of Dealers United, and Lauren Henry, co-founder of Aretios, are this year’s event co-chairs. Last year’s Silver Anniversary event was the most successful to date, with more than 800 attendees and over $325,000 raised.
