It’s the Agricultural Revolution Part II this year as the Best Of rankings get thrown topsy-turvy. Last year’s winner drops off the list entirely, replaced by Mixon Fruit Farms in the top position. But with so many options in the Sarasota-Bradenton area, voters had a difficult time choosing and Geraldson Community Farm and Worden Farm tie for first runners-up as Hunsader Farm and Dakin Dairy Farms tie as second runners-up.
Stefanie Overturf (on Mixon): Mixon’s is one of those “nostalgic memories.” Since I was a little kid, going for an orange swirl ice cream brings a smile to my face. Kristi Eberhardt (on Geraldson): Geraldson Community Farm brightens our plates and our community. I follow them on Facebook just to see their pictures of luscious green veggies. Well, that and the four-legged farm helpers Poppy and Jillybean. Michelle Wynne (on Geraldson): I chose Geraldson Community Farm not only for the beautiful organic veggies they provide, but also because they are truly a “community farm.” Christa provides many opportunities for the public to participate in the actual farming process, and she also provides access to many classes and events that enrich our personal lives as well as support the local economy. Wendy Getchell (on Worden): My Saturday is not complete without a trip to our Sarasota Farmer’s Market to visit the Worden Farm booth. I buy all my veggies for the week, and love the huge selection of seasonal offerings. I know I am getting the freshest, best quality, healthy produce available. Cathy Reinitz (on Hunsader): Hunsader Farms has something for everyone in the family—wonderful farm market, great playground and petting zoo, fabulous pumpkin festival, fun U-pick fruits and veggies, antique shopping and so much more.
