More Than Just Jobs
CareerSource Suncoast
It has been more than 34 years since the inception of CareerSource Suncoast. Through the years our name has changed multiple times, office locations have come and gone, programs and services evolved and thousands of job seekers in the Suncoast region have been connected with meaningful and sustainable work.
Last program year we provided over $800,000 in scholarships to train job seekers. We work with employers to determine their workforce needs, as well as our local tech schools and universities who build the curriculum so students can acquire skills to meet those needs. Paid internships have given career-seekers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in new industries, and on-the-job training funds have helped employers supplement their training budgets so they can more easily take on folks who may not have all the skills they require… yet.
Our State of Talent Conference in May brings together nearly 200 human resources professionals and business leaders together to have a conversation and come up with strategies for more effective recruitment, training and retention of our local workforce. The State of Jobs Conference in October welcomes hundreds of high-school students from Manatee and Sarasota counties to learn from experts in a variety of high-demand industries such as hospitality, manufacturing, construction, healthcare and information technology.
We hold daily Suncoast Career Network meetings at our career centers to provide job-seekers the knowledge and insight to change their mindsets, come up with a plan for their career, develop a personal brand, network with business leaders and enhance their skills.
CareerSource Suncoast is so much more than just a “place to find a job.” Every day, workers who already have a job tap into our resources to either move up the ladder or discover a new career path all together. The amazing relationships we’ve built with employers, educational institutions, chambers of commerce and economic development corporations over the years provides us with an almost immediate read on the pulse of our region’s workforce needs. We all know that if the current businesses in our region succeed, more will want to relocate and expand in Sarasota and Manatee counties. As a result, our economy strengthens and the Suncoast continues to grow as a desirable community where people just don’t live and work, but they flourish.
