Tucked between a tattoo parlor and a bar sits Shelf Indulgence off bustling Tamiami Trail. Carrying on the tradition of small coffee shops that have come before it, with a cozy atmosphere and quality Joe from friendly staff who know the locals, the addition of multitudes of used books and trinkets gives it an air all its own. The passion project of Nikki Snyder and her mother, the shop has coffee, tea and food made to order, with the Caprese panini as a standout on the menu. Featuring fresh mozzarella, spinach, tomato, chopped basil, pesto and balsamic glaze pressed between two hearty slices of griddle-striped bread, the Caprese also comes with a side of exotic fruit including yellow watermelon, mango, cherry and nectarine. The menu reads, “Happiness is a cup of coffee and a really good book,” but panini could easily be added to the list.
