Sarasota Schools Best State Averages in FSA Testing

According to results released by the Florida Department of Education, the Sarasota County School District scored higher than state averages in all categories of the 2018 Florida Standards Assessment (FSA). The percentage of students who were proficient in English Language Arts increased from 2 to 5 percentage points in grades eight, nine and 10 and remained consistent in grade five. There were slight declines in grades three, four, six and seven compared to last year, however. In 2018, the school district’s mathematics proficiency rates improved in grades three, five, and seven and remained consistent in grade six. There were declines in grades four and eight. In addition to the FSA, the percentage of students passing End of Course (EOC) Assessments is also higher than the state average in all subjects tested. The percentage of students passing EOC assessments increased 6 points in Algebra 1 and one point in Geometry. For all grades three through 10, Sarasota County Schools ranks among the top six school districts in English Language Arts and the top 10 school districts for mathematics. There are 67 school districts in the state of Florida.
