Manatee Accepting Construction Trades Board Applicants

Manatee County is accepting applications for two seats on the Construction Trades Board, a volunteer panel that regulates and licenses local contractors. The Construction Trades Board also disciplines contractors who violate local codes, state statutes or Florida Building Code provisions pertaining to licensed contractors. The board also may suspend or revoke contractor licenses and impose monetary fines. The first seat is open to a certified commercial swimming pool contractor with at least five years of experience in the construction trade and holding proper designations. The second seat is open to a local contractor with at least five years of experience in the construction trade, who also holds proper certifications. Applicants must reside or have a business located in unincorporated Manatee County. The third seat is a consumer representative, available to any Manatee County resident who is not, and has never been, a member or practitioner of a profession regulated by the board or a member of any closely related profession.
