The Global Interdependence Center is partnering with the Financial Planning Associates of the Suncoast and Cumberland Advisors of Sarasota to bring Bill Strauss from the Chicago Federal Reserve for a special presentation at the Sarasota Yacht Club on February 2. Strauss’ chief responsibilities include analyzing the current performance of both the Midwest economy and the manufacturing sector for use in monetary policy. He organizes the Bank's Economic Outlook Symposium and Automotive Outlook Symposium.
Strauss will discuss “U.S. Manufacturing in a Global Context.” Thanks to the advent of new technology and lean manufacturing processes combined with a strengthening economy, says Strauss, manufacturing is experiencing a resurrection of sorts. He will also discuss the interrelationship between countries, including the current hot topics such as tariffs, the possibility of a 2019 economic slowdown, how viable is the U.S. manufacturing sector, BREXIT’s effect on the world economy and ways manufacturers can leverage the latest advancements in technology to face challenges with little disruption.
