Manatee Memorial Hospital has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® Bariatric Surgery Facility for treating individuals living with morbid, or extreme, obesity. Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. Facilities are selected for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care. “We are honored to have received this designation from Aetna. We are proud of our Surgical Weight Loss team led by Stelios Rekkas, MD, Medical Director of our Bariatric Surgery, on their commitment of assisting individuals with their long-term weight loss goals.” said Kevin DiLallo, CEO of Manatee Memorial Hospital. “Many of these patients find relief from serious medical conditions after losing weight, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea and coronary artery disease.”
