Sarasota County School Board Appoints Jody Dumas to the Position of Assistant Superintendent, Chief Operating Officer

The Sarasota County School Board approved the appointment of Jody Dumas to the position of Assistant Superintendent, Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately. Mr. Dumas has served as both interim COO and the executive director of Facilities, Planning and Construction since June. The school district will look to hire a new executive director to assume his previous position. Mr. Dumas has served as the executive director of Facilities, Planning and Construction since 2017, overseeing the school district’s custodial program, planning and development, construction projects and capital improvement plan. He has been with the District since September of 2003 and has served as a director in numerous departments, including Facilities and Transportation. Prior to his tenure with the school district, Mr. Dumas was the manager of Maintenance Operations with Hillsborough County and the assistant superintendent of Public Works with the town of Killingly, CT. He began his career as a third-grade teacher. Mr. Dumas holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Eastern Connecticut State University and has completed 30 hours of coursework toward a master’s degree in Elementary Education. He and his family reside in Arcadia, FL. In his new role, Mr. Dumas will be responsible for several operations departments, including Facilities, Planning, Construction, Human Resources, Communications, School Safety, Transportation and Food and Nutrition Services.
