SRQ DAILY WEDNESDAY PHILANTHROPY EDITION
WEDNESDAY JUL 8, 2020 |
The Planetarium has reopened with an all-new Digistar 6 planetarium system. With improved lighting capabilities and new software, they really can take you places you've never been before. They're showcasing the new capabilities with a special narrated show created by Planetarium Manager Howard Hochhalter. "Flight Through Our Solar System" is a 10-minute narrated tour that begins at the sun then travels through the solar system, including the asteroid belt, past Pluto and the other outer planets, until you arrive at the icy outer reaches of the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud, located on the outer fringe of the solar system. "We joke that our Planetarium is perfect for star nerds, people who are most passionate about astronomy," Hochhalter says. "But I think this new system is perfect for everyone, from newbies to dedicated amateurs, and I want everyone to see it in action!"
