Local Students Paint Mural Celebrating Future Rosemary District Park

Arts & Culture

DreamLarge, the first registered benefit corporation on the Gulf Coast of Florida and the organization behind the PINC Experience, is proud to announce the creation of a new, student-led mural in the Rosemary District. Twenty middle school students, grades 5-8, at the Sarasota School of Arts & Sciences (SSA+S) Summer Art Camp joined forces with the Rosemary District Association (RDA) and DreamLarge and painted a temporary, park-themed mural. The mural commemorates the future site of Rosemary Park. Led by art teacher, Brian Hubbard, and assisted by his wife and coworker, Sarah Hubbard, SSA+S students have been learning about art, design, creativity while attending the summer camp and ended their experience with the painting of this community mural.

In 2021, the local community, led by the Rosemary District Association, rallied together and donated the last of the funding needed to help the City secure park land — effectively making the community’s dream of a park a reality. “As something that has been in the City’s plans for quite some time and finally is being brought to fruition, we wanted to provide an opportunity for young artists and creatives in our community to put a stamp on the park,” said Anand Pallegar, RDA Board Member and founder of DreamLarge “This is an opportunity for students to engage in the celebration of a park that’s ultimately being built for them - for the next generation.”

The mural, designed by Cat Forrest and commissioned by DreamLarge, depicts a children’s scene within a park.
