ASID-FLWC 2021 Chapter Weekender Recognizes Impactful Design at Awards Gala

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) - Florida West Coast Chapter (FLWC) advances the ever-evolving interior design profession and promotes the value of impactful interior design. This past weekend, the collective joined together for its annual Chapter Weekender event, sponsored by SRQ Media Group for the second year-running. The anticipated Weekender gathers local members of the Tampa Bay region and includes networking opportunities, fun activities and workshops for Continuing Education Units (CEUs)—including "The Disciplinary Process for Licenses and Unlicensed Architects and Interior Designers. This CEU for ASID members was hosted at The Center for Architecture Sarasota last Friday and was presented by David K. Minacci, certified in Construction Law and prosecuting attorney for the Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design. Minacci spoke to the room on the salient changes in the Florida statute that may affect a registered interior designer's practice moving forward, as well as a breakdown of the newly implemented rules for the disciplinary process.
On Saturday evening, the Weekender culminated with a Gala Dinner at Sarasota's Art Ovation Hotel, where the board recognized winning projects from the past year with awards of distinction. Noteworthy winners of the ASID- FLWC 2021 Design Excellence Awards Competition includes: Honorable Mention for 'Contemporary Bath Design,' presented to Holly Dennis, ASID of Holly Dennis Interiors; First Place in 'Transitional Kitchen Design,' presented to Michelle Manzini, Associate ASID of Fusion Cabinets Inc.; First Place in both 'Industry Partner Trade Showroom' and 'Industry Partner Print Media with ASID Logo,' as well as Second Place in 'Industry Partner Website Design,' presented to International Design Source, ASID IP; First Place in 'Student Commercial Design,' presented to Megan Morandi, Student ASID; First Place in both 'Traditional Design Over 3,000 Sr. Ft.' and in 'Transitional Design Over 3,000 Sq. Ft.,' presented to Franco Pasquale, ASID of Pasquale Design Associates; while Alissa Sullivan, ASID of Pecky Interiors won Second Place in the aforementioned category.
