Sarasota County Schools Announces 29 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Sarasota County Schools is proud to announce that 29 students have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school juniors entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrantsIn September, high-scoring students were notified through their schools that they qualified as a Semifinalist. From the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the Finalist level, and in February they will be notified of this designation.
