The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently awarded a $10,000 grant to the Birds of Paradise Sanctuary & Rescue, a safe haven for abused or unwanted exotic birds regardless of species, age, special needs or behavioral issues.  The grant helped the organization by providing a portion of the money needed to fully remodel an exisiting building to be used as an Emergency Veterinary Intake and Adoption Center.  This new space will enable the group to increase the volume of birds that they can help and provide a great environment to interact with the birds during the adoption process.  A Grand Opening Open House is planned for December 11th from 11-3.
