On Monday April 18th, the Sarasota Ballet announced their 2022-23 season. Over seven different programs, the Company will perform fifteen different works, with six World Premieres - including The Spider’s Feast by Sir David Bintley and a new work from Jessica Lang that will be shown during the Company’s August residency at the Joyce Theater in New York. The 2022-23 season marks the Sarasota Ballet’s second straight season with a world premiere from Sir David Bintley after last season’s A Comedy of Errors made its premiere this past March.
Program 1 will commence at the FSU Center for Performing Arts from October 21st-23rd and will feature a world Premiere by Resident Choreographer and Principal Dancer Ricardo Graziano, and World Premieres by dancers Asia Bui and Richard House.
Program 2, which will be held at the Sarasota Opera House from November 18th-19th, harkens back to the Company’s penchant of performing older, classical productions - part of the Sarasota Ballet’s historically diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary productions. The program will feature the company premieres of two of the choreographic pioneers of the 20th century - Sir Frederick Ashton and Sir Kenneth MacMillan.
Program 3 marks the commencement of the Company’s winter season on December 16th and 17th at the Sarasota Opera House. Here, Sir Frederick Ashton’s Les Patineurs will be performed along with the world premiere of Sir David Bintley’s The Spider’s Feast.
Program 4 will once again take place at the FSU Center for Performing Arts from January 27th-30th, 2023 and will feature the world premiere of choreographer and dancer Arcadian Broad with the Sarasota Ballet as well as the debut Jessica Lang’s yet to be titled ballet.
On February 24th-27th, 2023, the Sarasota Ballet will host the Dance Theatre of Harlem at the FSU Center for Performing Arts for Program 5. Program 6, held at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on March 24th and 25th, 2023 will feature the return of a classical ballet - Johan Kobborg’s production of August Bournonville’s iconic full-length romantic ballet La Sylphide.
The 2022-23 season comes to an end with Program 7, held at the Sarasota Opera House on April 28th and 29th, 2023 and will feature three classical ballets from famed Georgian choreographer George Balanchine.
