The Ringling College campus was the grooviest place in town on Saturday night as the school celebrated its 27th annual scholarship event, Avant-Garde: Ringling College Rocks the 70s!

The evening opened with cocktails, entertainment and silent auction viewing, followed by a special reveal as college president, Dr. Larry Thompson and his wife, Pat arrived, both dressed as Elton John. While some attendees were dressed in cocktail attire, many took the opportunity to get decked out in 70's costumes, with colorful clothing, wigs and platform shoes. A groovy makeup artist was on-hand creating flowery face art and a dyn-O-mite van was available for keepsake photos.

The events continued with a program full of touching videos and remarks from Thompson, followed by a paddle raise to help in providing scholarships to deserving third and fourth year studens who are in danger of being unable to complete their education due to lack of financial assistance.
