Actress/Director/Writer Chelsea Gonzalez, graduate of The Out-Of-Door Academy and daughter of ArtisTree Landscape CEO Joe Gonzalez, has released a short film to be featured in this year’s Sarasota Film Festival. In Make the Call, two former best friends reunite in a changed world, finally confronting the demons that ripped them apart. The horror/thriller plays at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Burns Court Cinema 2. Gonzalez’s award-winning films have played at more than 75 film festivals around the globe, including Sarasota, Portland, and the Academy Award qualifying DeadCenter Film Festival. She is also one of eight fellows chosen for the inaugural Blumhouse & K Period Media Screamingwriting Fellowship created in partnership with the Sundance Institute. There, she is developing her feature film Women in Jeopardy, a horror comedy about three women trapped inside horror films and trying to escape. Gonzalez is currently attached to direct the film. Originally from Sarasota and residing in Los Angeles, Gonzalez has appeared on CBS’s Criminal Minds, ABC’s Castle,” Hulu’s The Mindy Project and HBO’s The Jinx as well as Franka Potente’s new feature Home starring Kathy Bates. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from Syracuse University.
