Supervisor of Elections Announces Sarasota County Student to Receive Annual FSE Scholarship

Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner today announced that a Sarasota County resident studying at the University of Central Florida will receive one of four scholarships awarded annually by the Florida Supervisors of Elections (FSE) statewide association. Kate Rumisek, a Junior at the University of Central Florida, will receive the Joy Smith Scholarship, named in memory of the longtime Levy County supervisor of elections. The $1,200 scholarship may be used to pay for qualified educational expenses. Rumisek is studying political science pre-law with a minor in leadership studies. In addition to her college coursework, Rumisek is also a law clerk with an Orlando law firm and previously interned in the 17th Congressional District office. Each year, FSE offers a total of four scholarships to eligible college/university juniors and seniors who have been residents of Florida for at least the prior two years and who are registered to vote in the county where applying for the scholarship. To be eligible, an applicant must: Be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student in a senior college or university in Florida; Have maintained a “C” average or above the previous school year; Be majoring in political science, public administration, business administration, journalism or mass communication.
