WEDNESDAY DEC 13, 2023 |
Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC) recently hosted its joyous holiday celebration, "A SPARCCling Holiday Luncheon." The annual event, held at Michael’s on East on December 6, 2023, marked a heartwarming occasion where the community came together to support SPARCC's smallest survivors. Attendees enjoyed a delightful day filled with a scrumptious lunch, entertainment by the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, and more. Guests were encouraged to embrace the spirit of the season by contributing unwrapped toys, gifts, and gift cards for kids, teens, and mothers supported by SPARCC. The event featured lively activities, including a live auction showcasing delectable treats from Sarasota’s renowned bakers, a silent auction presenting gift baskets crafted by Auxiliary members, chances to win spectacular items, and the opportunity to purchase unique holiday decorations. Event Co-Chairs, SPARCC Auxiliary Members Melissa Silva, Allyson Galuska, and Carolyn Castro, played pivotal roles in making the celebration a success. All proceeds from the event contribute to supporting SPARCC’s essential free and confidential programs and services. During the 2022-2023 fiscal year, SPARCC provided confidential and free advocacy services, crisis counseling services, and shelter to numerous individuals, including adults, children, and pets. The Helpline Crisis received 6,328 calls, and legal services for injunctions for protection were provided to 234 individuals. SPARCC also reached over 2,500 individuals through professional training and community education presentations, with an additional 283 young people attending prevention education sessions.
