[Health]  London Wellness Introduces Peak Performance Plan
Dylan Howell, dylanh@srqme.com

Mind, body and soul meet in Sarasota with the latest wellness endeavor from London Wellness, the Peak Performance Plan. A multifaceted “concierge-style” wellness plan uniting everything from hypnotism to proper diet, the latest from London Wellness Founder Bonni London takes a holistic approach to health. Focusing on preventative techniques, London wants to keep those Golden Years enjoyable for clients.

A personal trainer with a Masters in Nutrition from New York University, London found that during her sessions as a nutritionist, she was spending a large amount of time discussing an overall healthy lifestyle with clients, as opposed to a single aspect. The Peak Performance Plan is centered around the idea that factors like stress, exercise, diet and sleep directly affect how the last years of life will be experienced, and all need to be cared for in tandem for the best outcome. This month’s launch combines the traditional avenues of health and wellness, such as diet and exercise, with psychological and emotional elements such as stress control and hypnosis. The plan centers around dynamic partnerships between multiple professionals, including hypnotist Dr. Art Emrich and chef Alyson Zildjian, which aim to result in a total lifestyle change.

Linda Maree became a client of London Wellness after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease last year, with a goal of maintaining her strength. Maree made the choice not to accept the “bad days” and worked with London towards her goal. “As we started tweaking my diet, not only did I begin to feel stronger,” she says, “my friends started telling me I was looking younger.”

Important to making and maintaining any lifestyle change is a sense of community and encouragement, which is one of the final pieces that London Wellness seeks to provide its clients. And through the process of making their lifestyle change, London sends regular supportive emails to her clients, with tips and encouragement to maximize their success. “Change is hard,” London agrees, but she plans on making it easier with a little help from her friends.

[SRQ Story Project Partner Spotlight ]  Cancer Support

Hearing the words “You have cancer” is one of the most life-altering statements one could ever imagine. The surreal nature of the diagnosis is overwhelming, and creates feelings of isolation and disorientation.

JFCS of the Suncoast’s Cancer Support Program in partnership with Sarasota Memorial Hospital provides a caring and responsive environment for anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis — patients, survivors, family members, and caregivers. Programs and services include Mindfulness Meditation, Oncology Yoga, Tai-Chi, weekly and monthly support groups, workshops, and special events. Services are provided free of charge at ten locations in three counties including Sarasota Memorial’s HealthFit facility on Rand Blvd.

The classes are designed to reduce stress, improve sleep and provide tools for creating a life balance while navigating appointments and treatments. Class participants express coming away with peace of mind and feelings of ease after each class.

After attending yoga classes, one participant shared, “I appreciate that my triple negative breast cancer diagnosis was regarded with sensitivity and commitment.”

This attendee commented, “I am employed full time. Thankfully, JFCS offers a Tuesday Evening Yoga class that I attend on a weekly basis which I credit with improving my overall wellbeing.”

[Recognition]  ROBRADY Receives District Attorney Endorsement

New York District Attorney and family court judge James Punch has officially endorsed a joint project by ROBRADY Design and Joe Bujalski to give patients, physicians and pharmacists another tool to address the opioid epidemic—The PILL. The PILL, a smart opioid dispenser, synergizes digital technology and design thinking into a sustainable, reusable product that delivers substantive solutions to our nation’s urgent problem. The device, which expands on the original patent addresses many of the factors leading to opioid misuse and addiction. The dispenser, issued as usual by the pharmacist, contains the prescribed medication in the appropriate doses in a tamper-evident plastic container. A digital, E-ink display can show prescription information, dosage timer, QR codes. When the timer reaches zero, patients can rotate their next pill to the finger hole and punch it through the foil seal. Once rotated, the dispenser locks until the timer reaches zero again. In addition to setting the intervals for pill access, pharmacists can also read information from the PILL to review and monitor a patient’s usage habits, a further safeguard against addiction and accidental overdose.
