"We looked to design a warm, coastal modern building rather than a big white stucco box."

[Development]  Lux Condo Breaks Ground on Siesta
Jacob Ogles, jacob.ogles@srqme.com

The shores of Siesta Key will soon be home to a new modern condominium building. Ground broke last week on the six-unit Océane Siesta Key, a six-unit luxury development on Big Pass, north of Siesta Key Village. Developers boast of a vantage point on the island that makes the most of Gulf Coast views.

Architect Mark Sultana, DSDG Architects principal, says the expansive 4,500-square-foot units were designed to feel like detached structures. “In a way, all six units live more like a single-family home rather than a condominium project. The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom residences each come with their own three-car garage and private cabana. “We looked to design a warm, coastal modern building rather than a big white stucco box,” Sultana says.

Sultana says he is working on another six-unit condo on Siesta Key, though details of that are not quite ready for public consumption.

All the Océane units have floor-to-ceiling views of the Gulf, as well as views of Downtown Sarasota and of Lido and Longboat keys, something developers hope lure buyers to the project. “Finding special sites is something we at Crossgate Partners are really good at," says developer Randy Moore, of Crossgate Partners. “This is the most special site we have ever worked on. The view and the proximity to Siesta Village and Siesta Beach offer a relaxed island lifestyle rich with amenities.” The developer worked with DSSG and Gilbane Building Company on the project.

Interest in the exclusive development came rapidly. Of the six available units at Océane, one was purchased before ground broke and another immediately after construction began. The remaining four units run from $3.99 million to $4.8 million, according to Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.
