Charcuterie Fights Cancer

The Giving Coast

Boards for Bravery, Sunday September 23, 4:30pm-7:00pm at Louies Modern, 1289 North Palm Ave., Sarasota.

In light of September's place as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, come join the community at Louies Modern and dabble in some smoked meats and foreign cheeses, while raising funds for a pediatric cancer cure. “Boards for Bravery” A Charity Charcuterie Event will be hosted by The Benjamin Gilkey Fund—a local organization creating groundbreaking strides towards children’s cancer research. Proceeds from the sales benefit research within Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital and Blood Disorders Institute, and will inherently improve, prolong and preserve the lives of unbelievably heroic and brave kids like Benji.

This event is entirely new and unique to the area—and is more than sipping fine wine and feasting on delightful appetizers from Louies’ chefs (although that already sounds pretty great). Attendees will also have the chance to create their own smorgasbord board of luxury snacking—with a fanciful spread to choose from of specially-sourced meats, cheeses, veggies and delicious accoutrements provided by local artisans. There will also be local experts on-hand for pairing education to guide you on how to build the perfect charcuterie combo designed for your personal palette. You’ll even get to take home your handcrafted wooden board from JL Productions when you’re done, so eat up.

“I'm really looking forward to this event - such a great cause - and who doesn't like cheese??!” says Bev Murray, a confirmed attendee.
