"Everly expands the homebuying opportunities and custom choices in our community while offering an incredible social lifestyle focused on community connections and a waterfront vibe"
Wellen Park continues to grow its vision and footprint in South Sarasota County. Developers last week announced plans for Everly, the first multi-homebuilder neighborhood there.
“Everly expands the homebuying opportunities and custom choices in our community while offering an incredible social lifestyle focused on community connections and a waterfront vibe,” said Wellen Park President Rick Severance. “Residents will enjoy exceptional lakefront amenities, an elegant social hall, and the on-site conveniences of a fitness center, a resort pool and private cabanas – all with spectacular sunset views. Residents will also have access to pickleball courts and a chip-and-putt golf facility.”
John Cannon Homes, Lee Wetherington Homes and Neal Signature Homes will all build custom homes on 75- and 85-foot homesites in the community, and upscale residences will be built on 62-foot sites from Homes by WestBay. Builders have already started presales and six model homes are under construction.
The community is being marketed as luxury real estate with amenities including a clubhouse and fitness center with a poolside veranda. That will also had a social hall with a kitchen and reception area, as well as an outdoor firepit. A community area will also have a fishing platform, event lawn and dog park.
John Cannon Homes’ model will be from its Warrina line, with a three-bedroom, three-bath home with more than 3,400 square feet under air and an 850-square-foot covered lanai.
Lee Wetherington Homes will have two models, the Caravel and the Haven. The Caravel will showcase coastal contemporary style. Both homes will show speciality rooms including a library, media room, pool room and primary spa bath. The builder will construct one- and two-story homes in Everly with 3,200 to 4,000 square feet of living space with four bedrooms and up to four-and-a-half baths and three-care garages.
Neal Signature Homes, meanwhile, plans to build homes with 2,562 to 4,214 square feet with various structural options for consumers.
Homes by WestBay will showcase open floor plans in its two-story Gasparilla BII model home, which will include beamed and tray ceilings, stone-accented walls, a gas fireplace and a ship lap, along with a bonus room on the second floor.

S-One Holdings Corporation, a global company headquartered in Sarasota with a focus on the digital imaging industry, has been named to Inc. magazine’s annual Best Workplaces list. Additionally, S-One has been named as a winner to a special category Medium to Large Employee size 100-499. The list is the result of a comprehensive measurement of American companies that have excelled in creating exceptional workplaces and company culture, whether operating in a physical or a virtual facility. "We are honored to be a winner of Inc’s 2023 Best Workplaces and are proud that our team members consider S-One a great place to work," stated S-One Co-Founder Art Lambert. "Our people are at the heart of our company. Their diverse talent, perspectives, loyalty, and selfless service create a unique company culture unlike any other." After collecting data from thousands of submissions, Inc. selected over 500 honorees this year. Each company that was nominated took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace, which included topics such as management effectiveness, perks, fostering employee growth, and overall company culture. The organization’s benefits were also audited to determine overall score and ranking. “Being named to Best Workplaces is an honor that only a small fraction of companies have been able to claim,” said Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk. “Proving to the world that you’re a magnet for talent and have a culture that keeps teams engaged, productive, and proud to come to work is a truly remarkable achievement.”
Coastal Orthopedics, a full-service provider of comprehensive orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, spine care, pain management, diagnostic imaging and physical therapy service, recently celebrated the completion of its 500th robotic knee replacement procedure. Coastal Orthopedics has been performing outpatient knee replacement surgeries since 2014. In an effort to expand its outpatient knee replacement surgery offerings, in October 2021, Coastal Orthopedics became the first practice in the region to offer Stryker’s Mako Robotic-Arm assisted total and partial knee replacement procedures at an outpatient surgery center. Robotic-arm assisted surgery offers the potential for a higher level of patient-specific implant alignment and positioning. The technology allows surgeons to create a 3D plan and perform surgery using a surgeon controlled robotic-arm that helps execute the procedure with a high degree of accuracy. Mako SmartRobotics™ consists of three unique components – 3D CT-based planning, AccuStop™ haptic technology and insightful data analytics. In clinical studies, Mako Total and Partial Knee demonstrated the potential for patients to experience less pain, less need for opiate analgesics, less need for inpatient physical therapy, reduction in length of hospital stay, improved knee flexion and soft tissue protection in comparison to manual techniques. The technology also allows surgeons to cut less, which can result in less soft tissue damage and greater bone preservation. Following the personalized pre-operative plan, the surgeon guides the robotic-arm during bone preparation to execute the predetermined surgical plan and to position the implant. By selectively targeting only the part of the knee damaged by osteoarthritis, surgeons can resurface the diseased portion of the knee while helping to spare the healthy bone and ligaments surrounding the knee joint. Studies have shown robotic-arm assisted partial knee replacement is two to three times more accurate than manual partial knee replacement procedures. For patients at Coastal Orthopedics, robotic-arm assisted surgery provides a new level of precision that can take surgical outcomes to an even higher level. It also allows them to take advantage of the latest innovations in health care right here in the community, without the added expenses of traveling to a teaching center or university.

Florida Studio Theatre is proud to present the world premiere of Visit Joe Whitefeather (and bring the family!) by award-winning playwright Bruce Graham. It’s the 1970s in Beaver Gap, Pennsylvania, a small town with a problem. Tourism has declined and it doesn’t look like there is any hope on the horizon. It’s a plan so wild and insane that it just might work. Tickets range from $25-39 and are now on sale at FloridaStudioTheatre.org or at 941.366.9000. FST’s Gompertz Theatre, 1265 1st St., Sarasota.
