Monday Business Edition

"Entrepreneurs change almost every day, they fail on a regular basis, but they learn from it and they move on."

- Art Lambert, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of S-One Holdings Corporation.

[Business]  S-One Holdings Corporation Builds Itself Through Strong Workplace Culture
Dylan Campbell, dylan@srqme.com

There were three rules that Art Lambert instituted when he founded S-One Holdings Corporation in 1994 with his business partner Ron Simkins: have fun, make money and don’t get in anybody else’s way of making money.

“We adhere to those rules and while they’re fun, they’re also very serious. People at the company take them seriously,” says Lambert. “It’s a culture that’s proliferated by our teams, not necessarily by Ron and me; we just laid the foundation. They now proliferate the culture of giving back to the community, of continuous learning and of taking on new challenges.”

This year, S-One was named as one of 2025 USA Today Top Workplaces, ranking 26th amongst US-based companies with 150-499 employees. The company, which began as LexJet just over 30 years ago, initially had five team members and has now grown to over 220 employees around the world.

“30 years ago, wide format printing was in its infancy. Today you see it everywhere, but we were at the very beginning of it,” says Lambert. “We actually started our company with a plastic material that we coated and put through a printer to create trade show graphics. Today we make, sell and deliver wide format inkjet solutions, printers and software. A wide format printer could entail printing anything from 24 inches all the way up to three meters.”

Together with Simkins, Lambert has grown S-One into one of the most preeminent names in the printing industry, grossing roughly $200 million in 2024. His advice to burgeoning entrepreneurs? Don’t be afraid to fall flat on your face.

“I would not be afraid of change. I would not be afraid of failing,” says Lambert. “Entrepreneurs change almost every day, they fail on a regular basis, but they learn from it and they move on.”
