Andrea Bozzolo to Open Restaurant on Longboat Key
Chef Andrea Bozzolo, the culinary mind behind Andrea's The Art Of Food And Wine and the founding chef for Divino, is now opening a new restaurant on Longboat Key with businessman Howard Rooks. Amore by Andrea will open in a few weeks in the former location for the Plaza. "Completely renovated and elegantly reconfigured to offer both indoor dining and al fresco enjoyment in the Palm Garden, the Amore by Andrea complex will also feature event space (7,000 square feet inside), a glamorous bar for light bites, Happy Hour and live entertainment," reads a press release announcing the new restaurant. The restaurnat will specialize in contemporary cuisine. Bozzolo promises fresh-made bread and pastas and the use of locally-sourced produce, seafood and meat when possible, with a menu that shifts seasonally outside a few year-round house specials. A wine cellar will be stocked with European wines. Bozzolo moved in 2003 to Siesta Key from Italy, where he was born and studied food and hospitality. Rooks, meanwhile, came to live in Lido Shores in 1998 after selling a successful real estate brokerage firm. Rooks has owned restaurnats before in Florida and Virginia, and Bozzolo still owns Andrea's on Siesta Key.
