Caldwell Trust Company has opened its new headquarters in Venice on Center Road. The $3-million facility will be the long-term central office for the company, which was founded in 1993. “We will always be personal, traditional and independent, and we will remain faithful to ‘What We Believe,’ our founding principles," said CEO Kelly Caldwell. "We have a plaque with these principles inside our grand foyer, where we see them every day,” he said. The new headquarters is an 11,500-square-foot facility with a wing dedicated to trust administration and another to the high-tech software being utilized by the company. Central in the structre is a 24-foot-by-36-foot main conference room with state-of-the-art video equipment available. The company has grown from managing $400 million when it opened in 1993 to handling $800 million today. A priority for the company in choosing a new site for headquarters was remaining in Venice, company officials said. Bealls' Knopik Named Florida Chamber Chairman
Steve Knopik, CEO of Bealls, was announced as the chairman of the Florida Chamber of Commerce for 2014-2015. Knopik has led Bealls, a national retailer based in Manatee County, since 2006, and previously served the company as president, chief financial officer and executive vice president. "It’s an honor for me to Chair the Florida Chamber Board. I am committed to working hard with the Florida Chamber team to build upon the successes that we’ve achieved. I firmly believe that the Florida Chamber will continue to play a vital role in shaping a bright future for all Floridians," Knopik said. Knopik took the reins this month from outgoing chair Eric Silagy, CEO of Florida Power and Light. Knopik's term helming the Chamber runs through Nov. 1, 2015. He was elected by the statewide organization's Board of Directors. Argus Foundation Names Christine Robinson as New Director
The Argus Foundation today announced that Sarasota County Commissioner Christine Robinson would take over as executive director of the foundation in January, when after current executive director Kerry Kirschner retires. Robinson will remain a commissioner through the end of her term in 2016. “I am very eager to continue my service to our community by working for a prestigious non-profit," Robinson said. "I have long appreciated the community work and conversation that Argus has brought forward. I look forward to helping make Sarasota a better place for all of us.” Robinson has served on the county commission since 2010, when she was first appointed to replace County Commissioner Shannon Staub after she resigned for personal reasons. Argus President Bill Merrill emphasized the deep appreciation of the membership of Argus for the long time service of Kerry Kirschner. “Kerry has been the face and foundation of Argus for a long time. We are grateful for his great work and congratulate him on his well-earned retirement.” The Argus Foundation was founded in Sarasota in 1985 to bring together diverse business interests. |
