The Gulf Coast Community Foundation announced that Kevin Cooper, now the vice president for Public Policy and Sarasota Tommorrow at The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, will join the foundation as director of Community Investment. He replaces Jon Thaxton, who earlier this week was promoted with Gulf Coast to senior vice president of Community Investment.
“Kevin’s expertise will strengthen Gulf Coast’s ability to drive systemic change,” said Mark Pritchett, president and CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. “With Jon and Kevin working as a team, we can continue to bring the right people together to solve our region’s most pressing issues and leverage Gulf Coast’s community impact.” Cooper has also been a regular columnist with SRQ Daily, publishing a column each month on behalf of the Chamber. Gulf Coast Community Foundation announced this morning that Mark Pritchett has been promoted as president and CEO. Pritchett, who previously served as senior vice president for Community Investment, succeeds Teri Hansen, who left the Foundation earlier this year to lead the Barancik Foundation. The appointment comes after a five-month search. “After a comprehensive, nationwide search, the Board identified Mark Pritchett as the best leader to advance Gulf Coast’s mission of transforming our region, together with our donors, through bold and proactive philanthropy,” said Ben Hanan, Gulf Coast Board Chair. Pritchett has served since 2008 and has been closely involved with numerous high-profile initiatives, among them the installation of TechActive classrooms in Sarasota County middle schools. The Gulf Coast COmmuntiy Foundation today announced Teri A. Hansen, CEO and president, will leave her position at the end of Juine. Hansen will now head the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation. Full text from press release is below: --- Gulf Coast Community Foundation has announced that Teri A Hansen will resign from her position as President|CEO effective June 30, 2015, to head up the operations of the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation, a Sarasota-based private family foundation. The Gulf Coast Board of Directors will initiate a search for Hansen’s replacement according to the foundation’s formal succession plan. “One of Teri’s most important accomplishments has been to ensure that a strong Board, professional staff, and sound policies are in place at Gulf Coast,” said Ben Hanan, chair of the Board of Directors of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. “I am confident that Gulf Coast will continue to transform our region, while providing the service that our donors count on us for, throughout this transition and as we move forward.” Hansen, who has served as President|CEO of Gulf Coast since 2002, intends to stay on through the end of the foundation’s current fiscal year. She plans to work closely with the Gulf Coast Board during the leadership transition. “I have been offered a unique opportunity to help a family whom I admire deeply create their legacy,” Hansen said of her plans to join the Barancik Foundation this summer. “Chuck and Margie Barancik are committed to this community, and they would like to partner with Gulf Coast on future initiatives.
