Fitch Raises Credit Rating for Manatee County School District
Fitch Ratings, an international credit rating agency based out of New York and London, raised its rating outlook for the Manatee County School District to Positive from Negative. The Fitch release said: “Unaudited results for fiscal 2014 indicate a sizable operating surplus, eliminating the negative balances reported in the previous two fiscal years. Actions taken to limit spending, improve internal controls and more accurately monitor district expenditures are credit positives.” Fitch also cited improving economic metrics such as favorable growth rates in employment, population and taxable property values in Manatee County as well as low debt ratios. “The positive rating from Fitch is a strong affirmation that we are on the right path financially as a school district,” said Superintendent Rick Mills. “This good news is the direct result of the hard work, sacrifice and dedication of our School Board, our Citizens’ Budget Advisory Committee, all school district employees and most especially Deputy Superintendents Don Hall, Dr. Diana Greene, Chief Financial Officer Rebecca Roberts and our entire Finance and Budget team.” Filed under Finance Tags: featured Fitch Ratings Manatee County School District Rick Mills Comments (0 so far) |
