Girls Inc. Names Angie Stringer As Executive Director
Girls Inc. of Sarasota County today announced Angie Stringer, most recently the director of major gifts for Children First, has been hired as executive director of the nonprofit prganization. Stringer, who previously worked at Girls Inc. for four years, starts Aug. 31. “Angie is a past Girls Inc. employee,” said Jennifer Compton, board president of Girls Inc. “She worked for Girls Inc. for four years, left eight years ago and is now coming home. We could not be more pleased to welcome her back at this important time as we embark on new growth initiatives. We know she is the right person to build upon the foundation laid and lead Girls Inc. to the next level as we continue to significantly impact the lives of young girls.” Stringer succeeds Robin Rose, who is leaving the organization to be closer to her husband in St. Augustine. She boasts some 20 years in nonprofit work, including experience in program supervision, program development, strategic planning, staff management, fiscal planning, fundraising and marketing. She will start work days after a summer fundraising campaign that aims to raise $70,000 over 30 days as a match for a donation from Donna Brace Ogilivie to cover scholarships for girls interested in programs. Girls Inc. focuses on giving girls the skills and experiences to "navigate gender, economic and social barriers and grow into healthy, educated and economically independent adults."
